I Voted Sticker Design Series

Madison Center for Civic Engagement
Project Overview
A multi-year sticker design series created for the Madison Center for Civic Engagement to promote voter participation and celebrate civic pride among JMU students.
My Work
This project showcases a series of winning “I Voted” sticker designs created for James Madison University’s Madison Center for Civic Engagement. Designed for the university’s annual sticker competition, the series aimed to encourage student voter turnout by making civic participation feel celebratory, visible, and shareable. I developed the selected designs for three consecutive years—2022, 2023, and 2024, helping transform a simple sticker into a recognizable symbol of campus-wide democratic pride.
My approach centered on understanding what motivates college students to participate in civic life. Research showed that visible recognition, peer influence, and campus-led initiatives play a significant role in increasing voter engagement. With that insight, I focused on designing stickers that felt fun, inclusive, and culturally relevant, something students would genuinely want to wear, photograph, and share. Each design balanced bold visuals with clear messaging to ensure immediate recognition, even at a small scale. I prioritized adaptability so the stickers could live both physically on election day and digitally across social media, reinforcing the Madison Center’s mission through consistent, student-centered design.
